Attracting International Students project
To further the positive international staff and student experience, the University participated in the 'Attracting international students: equitable services and support, campus cohesion and community engagement' project.
The project was facilitated by the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) onsite at several universities to research "How equality can attract, retain and improve the achievement of international students" covering aspects relating to:
- Equity of support services to all students
- All services
- Accommodation service
- Careers service
- Catering
- Chaplaincy
- Disability service
- Finance
- Health service
- Sport, leisure and exercise
- Students’ union or association
- Support for international students with dependants
- Campus cohesion
- Relationship between staff and international students
- Interaction between international and UK students
- Community engagement
- Volunteering
- Sports
- Links with external black and minority ethnic organisations

Methodology:
- Online questionnaire open to all students
- Focus groups held at St Andrews facilitated by the E&D Officer and Students' Association, interviewed by Dr R Arshad (Edinburgh University)
