Able Futures
Through its Access to Work Mental Health Support Service, Able Futures Provides support to people working and living with mental health difficulties and to employers. For more information see the Able Futures PowerPoint below:
Able Futures Access to Work (PowerPoint, 2,410 KB)
Able Futures is a Government initiative to support employees with mild to moderate mental health issues. There is a simple online one-page, self-referral form which can be found on the Able futures website, or freephone 0800 321 3137. This service offers confidential one-to-one support by fully qualified mental health professionals which is delivered either by phone or Teams over a nine-month support plan. Of course, all staff can still self-refer to Occupational Health for support.
Occupational Health
The University of St Andrews Occupational Health Services provides comprehensive specialist advice to support all staff in the working environment. We are a multidisciplinary team, consisting of an Occupational Health Physician, Occupational Health Manager, Occupational Health Wellbeing Adviser, Occupational Health Technician, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and administrator.
We aim to improve staff wellbeing by having a proactive approach supporting all physical and psychological wellbeing. If you are concerned that work is affecting your health or that your health his affecting your ability to undertake your role, please contact us for advice. Occupational Health supports the Universities overall strategy and the people and wellbeing strategy.

Confidentiality is crucial to delivering a great service.
Our team proactively work to improve the health and wellbeing of the workforce with a key focus on ensuring a healthier and safe working environment. We operate under the GDPR Act 2019 and Data Protection Act 1998 maintaining a strict code of professional ethics and confidentially.
Your records are stored in both paper and electronic copy and cannot be accessed by anyone outside of Occupational Health. With your consent reports may be forwarded to your Manager and or Human Resource Business partner to ensure appropriate work adjustments can be put in place to support you at work. We will provide this advice with your consent without breaching medical confidentiality.
Menopause Awareness Month
October is Menopause Awareness month and the Workplace Team from Fife Health and Social Care Partnership has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the subject.
