Prevention Group

The Prevention team works to ensure a whole-university approach to suicide prevention and the development of informed, supported and compassionate communities at St Andrews.

The group meets once per semester to address:

  • direct support for individuals (via Student Services or Occupational Health - and in conjunction with NHS support, where appropriate);
  • a wide range of publicity and information campaigns in conjunction with the Student Mental Health Agreement and Mental Health Strategy groups.
  • the development and maintenance of supportive capacity, and awareness that suicide prevention is everybody’s business.

The Prevention group is chaired by the Head of Wellbeing and Mediation, with core representation including Student Services, the Students’ Association, Nightline, Occupational Health, Chaplaincy, Corporate Communications, Environmental, Health and Safety Services, Human Resources, Head of Special Projects, NHS and third sector agency representatives.
