Michelle joined Student Services in the summer of 2018 after graduating from the University of St Andrews. Alongside her studies, she took on the role of Disability Coordinator in the school of Modern Languages, and has 10 years’ experience of working and studying within the University. Her previous experience includes the secondary education sector where she assisted pupil support staff and pupils in an administrative role. This has given her a wide range of experience and knowledge, and it is safe to say that Michelle is enthusiastic about working with staff and students within the education sector.

With a love of learning, and since joining the disability team, she has completed formal training including strategies to facilitate inclusive learning and working practices, Dyslexia Action's Supporting adults with dyslexia and co-occurring conditions, and National Autistic Society's Understanding Autism.

Michelle currently facilitates an Autism group, which is offered to students throughout the semester through a mixed mode of contact that offers both in person and online.

Michelle is passionate about equality and inclusion practices and access to education. Through a student-centred led approach, she has experience of working with students of differing disabilities to assist in removing barriers, where possible, and always with an aim of enhancing their student experience.

Michelle is a member of the National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) and the Dyslexia Guild.
