Assistant Director (Mental Health)

David joined Student Services in the summer of 2023 after spending almost 20 years working with Local Authorities and the NHS in the fields of mental health, learning disability, forensics, risk assessment, risk management and human rights. David joined Student Services from Angus Health and Social Care Partnership where, for the last 6 years, he managed their Mental Health Officer Service.

David obtained his Psychology degree at the University of Abertay in Dundee then went on to obtain his Social Work degree at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He is also a qualified Mental Health Officer having obtained his Post Graduate Qualification at the University of Edinburgh ande continues to support the Tayside Out of Hours Mental Health Officer Service wherever possible.

David is passionate about the work he does and is firmly of the view that, while mental ill health does not discriminate and can affect anyone from any walk of life, St Andrews University Student Services has the resources available to support students to have the best university experience possible and achieve their goals and aspirations.
