Registration Change (Research PG Students)
What is a change in degree registration?
In certain circumstances, it may be possible for you to request a change to the type of degree for which you are registered. For example, you may decide that your research will extend to a PhD dissertation whilst you are currently registered for an MPhil. Sometimes, a request to change your registration may arise as a result of your annual progress review.
Any proposed change in registration should be discussed with your Supervisor in the first instance.
Advice is also available from the Registry Officer (Research Student Support), whom you can approach with any questions.
A change in registration may affect your funding, may have fee implications, or be contractually inappropriate in some circumstances. If you are an overseas student on a Student visa, registration changes may have implications for your immigration status and you should seek advice from the International Student Adviser.
