OSDS feedback process
How do we evaluate development activities?
We have based our system on the Kirkpatrick Four-Level Training Model which is designed to objectively measure the effectiveness of training. We have added a fifth level - 'Level 0' for baseline assessment.
We currently use the following in evaluating our courses:
- Level 0 to provide a baseline 'datum' for participants’ self-assessed confidence and competence
- Level 1 to measure the Reactions of participants at the end of a learning event
- Level 0 and Level 3 to measure the self-assessed transfer of learning and change in behaviour of participants
The outcomes from the collated feedback provide an indication of the value of the courses and programmes that OSDS run for staff. It also determines whether a course has achieved its objectives or needs to be revised in any way.
Why do we ask for feedback?
To ensure that our training is of a high, consistent, effective standard throughout OSDS programmes. The feedback allows us to develop courses to their full potential and improve courses that are failing to meet the standards expected. It also allows us to see gaps or identify important topics that may be missing in the programmes.
What we do with the data collected?
Feedback data collected is used to create individual feedback reports for each training event delivered. We also collate data for all training events into monthly and annual statistical reports. These reports help us to understand the events which are performing well and those that need attention, and provide measures of the overall quality of our events, as well as trend data and other useful analytics.
