Question: Why can’t my students see content in MMS?
The main reason students will be unable to view files, folders and URL’s in the content tool is because they are still set to ‘hidden’. When files are first uploaded they default to ‘hidden’ from students to prevent access to restricted content. Content that has been rolled over from the previous academic year is also set to ‘hidden’ for the same reason. Content that is hidden is slightly faded and the content name is italicized and has the word ‘Hidden’ at the end.
To make content visible select it by ticking the checkbox at the top right of the icon and then clicking the ‘Show’ button at the top right of the content section.
To test if a content item is visible use the ‘Switch View’ section at the top of the page. To view the student view tick the ‘Show student view’ checkbox and click the ‘Change View’ button. To change back to the staff view: uncheck the tick box and click the ‘Change View’ button.
It should be noted that if a folder is hidden then students cannot see any files within the folder and that making a folder visible does not make the files inside that folder visible.
