Can I claim the money back for my new glasses?
You may be entitled to the universities £50 subsidy towards your pair of glasses. Upload you prescription and receipt to the expenses part of Oracle Fusion where Occupational Health will check the prescription assessing if you are entitled to the subsidy.
What if I don’t want a report from my appointment?
All consultations at Occupational Health are confidential, no information is forwarded to your manager unless you wish us to do so.
How long do appointments last?
Appointments are allotted 45 minutes in the diary.
How do I get an appointment with Julie?
To receive an appointment with Julie (Cognitive Behavioural Pyschotherapist) you will need an initial appointment with one of the Occupational Health practitioners who would assess if an onward referral would be most beneficial treatment.
How do I get a physio appointment?
To receive an appointment for Physio you will need an initial appointment with one of the Occupational Health practitioners would assess if an onward referral to Physio would be most beneficial treatment.
How do I get a new chair/desk?
Firstly, we would suggest you try the online Workstations and Display Screen Equipment course.
In an Occupational Health appointment (if still necessary) you will be assessed, if it is agreed a new chair/desk or work tool is needed this will come out of your departments budget and will need to be agreed with manager.
Is my appointment at Occupational Health confidential?
Yes, all appointments at Occupational Health are confidential.
How do I make an appointment with Occupational Health?
Initial contact should be through our Occupational Health Administrator who will ask you for some basic details of why you wish an appointment. This is to ensure you are reviewed and supported by the most appropriate member of the team. Can I have a telephone appointment?
It is beneficial for appointments to be face to face as physical and mental wellbeing can be assessed by the adviser. However, appointments can be also be through teams or via telephone.
How long does it take to get an appointment?
We will aim to give you the first available appointment, however the waiting time may vary depending on who will be managing your health concern.
Where is occupational health based?
Occupational Health are based near the Observatory, Buchanan Gardens.
Who receives a copy of my report?
With your consent Occupational Health will provide advice on reasonable workplace adjustments to your Manager and Human Resource Business partner. This way we aim to support you in work or returning to work following an absence. To detect work related ill health at an early stage and implement controls to prevent them getting worse.
Does Occupational Health hold vaccination records?

What is Health Surveillance, and why do we provide it?
Health surveillance is a series of ongoing health checks, some of which may be required by law. They are designed to identify and assess the potential risk from health hazards in the workplace.
Your employer has a legal duty of care to look after your health and must allow you to attend a health surveillance appointment.
To detect work related ill health at an early stage and implement controls to prevent them getting worse.
What is Access to Work?
Occupational Health can advise on whether Access to Work can assist in supporting a staff member who may have a disability. This is a government initiative for people in employment who have disabilities. Access to work can undertake a holistic assessment and give recommendations which may be able to assist with both your overall disability and in particular the difficulties you are having within your role. The assessment is free, and the University pays a nominal amount £1,000 plus 20% cost towards any recommendations of equipment to be purchased. Access to Work will then cover up to £60,000 for their recommendations.
